Q: What will Celebrex do with my foot?
I have calcaneal spur and my doctor gave me a prescription, Celebrex. Will it help or is it just temporary relief?

A: I would not take the Celebrex–but that is my opinion. I do not like the stuff–I have been on it before. I would take some Tylenol at night to help ease the pain. Also–like with most meds–it takes at least 7-10 days for it to really get into the body and begin to really help. You want relief now–not later.
I assume your doctor took a x-ray to confirm the spur. I would also like to suggest a few things you can do which might help.
I would sleep on the left side if you can and place a pillow between your legs–this helps in not touching of the knees-legs and feet–it takes the pressure off.
While walking or standing I would get a piece of foam–about 1/2″ thick and place that in the heel of your shoes–this helps elevate the spur-it helps relieve pressure.
While sitting–I would place a pillow on something and elevate your leg and foot–the one with the spur, if you have a hot water bottle or heating pad–I would apply this to the bone spur 2-3 times a day –this helps open up the blood vessels and relieve some of the discomfort.
You can also soak your foot in some warm water and baking soda–add some lavender oil or tea tree–something soothing!!
This will pass–it just takes time–I have spurs in my neck and they are horrible when they flare up!
Hope you feel better soon—Good luck to you.

Q: Can one take Celebrex and sleeping pills together?
on my sleeping pills it says do not take with products that contain diphenhydramine. Does celebrex okay with sleeping pills?

A: Diphenhydramine is the active ingredient in many antihistamines. Diphenhydramine has a well known side effect – it causes drowsiness. It may not be safe to take a sleep aid along with a drug that contains diphenhydramine. So that’s what the warning means.

Celebrex is an NSAID – a non-steroidal antiinflammatory drug. It does not conatin diphenhydramine. There is no drug-drug interaction with sleep aids. You may take your Celebrex and your sleep aid.

Q: Can I Take Celebrex Over Two Years After It Expired?
I Have Rheumatoid Arthritis and I Have Celebrex That Expired On February 7, 2007. Can I Still Take This?
I Didn’t Need It When The Rheumatologist Prescribed It To Me…
But Now I Do.
Hoping I Can Take This.
Please Comment ASAP.

A: I would call Poison Control and ask them.

1-800-222-1222

24/7 they are there and the most knowledgeable source available.

Q: Can Oxaprozin 600mg or Celebrex 200mg be taken for lower back pain?
I have these medications from previous injuries and wonder if it would help a nagging lower back pain. Thanks.

A: These are two NSAIDs that are commonly prescribed for pain. You do have to be careful. Either of them increases the chance of heart desease. You also have to be sure they are still usable. Most people keep their medications in the bathroom. This is absolutely the worst place for them. Medications hate time and moisture. You could end up treating a symptom without finding out what is wrong.pp
Could you—Yes
Should you—NO

Q: how long do you need to take celebrex for it to get in your system and start working?

A: When I began taking celebrex I started taking it twice a day and after the first few days I was getting a lot of relief! I was actually really amazed at how quickly it worked for me! I hope you have the same results! Good luck!

Q: I need to know what categories of medications Percocet, Oxycontin, and Celebrex fall into.?
Are these meds in the saem category?

I need to know the primary purpose and basic mechanism of functioning of each medication.

I also would like to know if some of these meds are more addictive than others.

Specifically, I would like to know if Percocet and Oxycontin and stronger, more addictive, or more dangerous than Celebrex. In other words, I would like to know if there is some rational basis for recommending Cerebrex for pain but not Oxycontin or Percocet.

A: Celebrex-anti-inflammatory

Oxycontin and Perocet-addictive pain relievers

Q: Why does Celebrex cause headache and skin rash?
I know it’s the inhibition of COX-2 but what is the role of COX-2 to cause these side effects?

A: Probably reacting allergically to meds. I have reacted also to meds and lotions and the chlorine/fluoride that is being re-absorbed through the skin after the hot water washes out all the skin oils.

I know this from my own experiences with myself and others since these were also my triggers and when we are all under stress we usually consume-apply things that are more toxic to us, whether alcohol, cigarettes, pharmaceuticals, or eating too many calories or high- glycemic calories from carb-sugar-starches.

IF I may let me explain why if I were you I would make the choice to watch for other “toxic-triggers”.

In the past I also have had many problems with asthma and with skin rashes and itchings. I have learned that all the things that trigger these problems are very very toxic to everyone’s health and I have learned to ‘run’ from them.

I also learned that my nutrition was below what it needed to be, so that I could easily have an allergic reaction to something that was toxic, AND my skin and/or lymph and/or kidney and/or liver organs were not strong enough to deal with it quickly, so the rash/itchings were a continual ‘warning.’

I have since learned that better nutrition will make the skin and ‘purifying’ organs stronger in order that they can more easily deal with toxins that we all might have a hard time identifying and running from. (Google browse: “Pellagra-Wikipedia”)

Toxins include chlorine and fluoride in the drinking and shower water, or pesticides preservatives nitrates chemicals synthetics or enrichments in foods, or pharmaceuticals you have consumed or applied on your skin, or molds or smoke or aerosols.

I hope you learn your triggers and make the choices to become stronger.

Q: Is it safe to take Tylenol while taking Celebrex or would there be a better alternative?

A: Tylenol or acetaminophen are your only choices unless instructed by your doctor. Ibuprofen, naproxyn and aspirin are all NSAIDS as is Celebrex.

Q: What is a good alternative for celebrex ?
I take it for artheritis and my dr. will not prescribe it any more. I’am hurting. T.I.A. YOPPER

A: There is an anti-inflammatory diet that is based upon the idea that certain foods like fats, proteins and sugar make more prostaglandins which in turn cause pain. So the diet is low-fat, low-protein and low-sugar. Here is some general principles of it..

Anti-Inflammatory Diet

To supplement anti-inflammatory nutrients while continuing to ingest pro-inflammatory substances is counter-productive. These dietary guidelines help reduce inflammation for most people.

1. Decrease or eliminate red meat and dairy products. Some arthritis patients also seem to react to poultry.
2. Decrease or eliminate refined sugar.
3. Eliminate caffeine (including coffee, black tea, cola drinks, and chocolate).
4. Eliminate any likely food allergens during the initial three or four weeks such as gluten grains, citrus fruit, and night shade vegetables (tomatoes, white potatoes, red and green peppers, eggplant, paprika, and tobacco). These foods can be added back into the diet one at a time (one new food every third day) while carefully observing the effect. Forms are available to make it easier to monitor the effect of these foods.
5. Drink plenty of pure water. Chlorine is an antibiotic and can diminish our friendly gut flora. Studies have associated chlorine in drinking water with increased risk of some types of cancer. It is probably best to drink at least a half hour before the meal and no sooner than a hour after so the digestive juices won’t be diluted.
6. Increase your consumption of fresh, raw or lightly steamed fruits and vegetables. Good fruit choices include apples, bananas, grapes, mangoes, papayas, peaches, pears, prunes, kiwis, and other sub-acid fruits. Use discretion if the patient has blood sugar problems although fruit often does not cause a problem if the diet is low fat and high fiber. Good vegetables include asparagus, spinach, zucchini, parsley, artichoke (without the butter), kelp and other sea-veggies, okra, snow peas and many more. Cruciferous vegetables such as cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower as well as onions, chives, and peppers are very nutritious but may create digestive difficulties for some people. The solution is often simply chewing the food better and possibly adding supplemental digestive enzymes such as Metazyme or Beano. Spices such as garlic, tumeric, etc. are also very healthy and should be used regularly if well tolerated.
7. For snacks, consider raw vegetables, fruit, nuts and seeds. The fruits and veggies contain lots of enzymes, bioflavonoids, and other phytochemicals, while the raw nuts and seeds are rich in essential fatty acids, especially flax seed, pumpkin and sunflower seed, walnuts and almonds (almonds can be allergenic to some people). Raw seeds like sesame and flax need to be ground for proper digestion. An electric coffee grinder works well.
These healthy snacks can be combined e.g. raw vegetable sticks dipped in tahini (ground sesame seeds) or almond butter.

These suggestions are very helpful for most people with inflammatory conditions such as sprains, strains, bursitis, tendonitis, arthritis, etc. and can be used in conjunction with supplementation. Most people find that eating this way also often lowers blood lipids, smoothes out blood sugar variations, helps with weight management, reduces digestive problems, increases energy, and more. It is important to note that fats digest more slowly so when fat is reduced in the diet, we may become hungry sooner and be tempted to eat M&M’s, corn chips, snack crackers, cookies, etc. This hunger is not a problem if we have prepared plenty of healthy snacks as mentioned above.

Q: Is the pill Celebrex supposed to make you feel high?
The doctor gave me this for pain and swelling in my hands (I had carpal tunnel surgery about 2 months ago) I just took one about a half an hour ago and am feeling well, a little high—kind like I’m on Vicoden or Percocet. Does anyone have anyone have experience with this medication you can share that can give me some insight?

A: Not really. It’s a pain reliever, like ibuprofen. You might be feeling dizzy as a side effect though. Celebrex is not a narcotic.

Q: Is taking celebrex (400mg) a day for the long term detrimental to health?
I have been diagnosed with early stage ankylosing spondylitis and my doctor has prescribed the long term consumption of celebrex, eventhough the pain is still bearable at this stage. Is this necessary? What are the benefits of doing so?

A: John,

First of all, friend, be assured that ALL medications have the POTENTIAL to cause side effects. This means that there is no perfectly harmless drug. With this however, we still have to take our medication or else suffer the consequences, which normally would be more damaging than the side effects. Also, to minimize the risks of untoward effects, be consistent with how you are instructed to your medications. Be a good patient!

As to specifically Celebrex, there are concerns of its potential to cause damage to blood vessels and stroke as its cousin Vioxx, to those predisposed people like those suffering from heart and nerve diseases. However, unlike the latter, Celebrex’s potential to cause such damage is not backed by solid clinical studies. Meaning, it is safe as per available data.

I would query my doctor to eliminate doubts in my mind, if I were you, specially if you are concerned with your medicine’s side effects.

Now, as a good patient, take Celebrex as instructed by your doctor. Inform him of ANY suspicions of side effects. I would also take it with food even if does not suppose to cause stomach irritation. Nothing wrong with being too careful. Lastly, tell your doctor/pharmacist if you are to take/taking other medications to avoid interactions.

Hope this helps.

Albert

Q: can 200 mg of celebrex be given to a 92 lb dog?
I am curious to know if celebrex can be given to dogs that have arthritis?

A: Celebrex has been determined to be unsafe for many PEOPLE…it has not been tested in animals.

Your vet can provide Rimadyl, Deramaxx, and several other options for arthritis…Rimadyl is now available in a generic form (Carprofen) for about 40% less than the name brand. Dasequin is available over-the-counter from many vets, and can help less severe cases. If you absolutely won’t take the dog to the vet-call your vet for some free advice over the phone. Don’t give the Celebrex.

Q: does anyone know if there is a lawsuit against the company that made the drug Celebrex?
If so do you know the number or name of any law firm that is taking these kinds of cases?

A: if u r indian , u can proceed yorself in consumer protection forum.
but must confirm the base , strong documentional witnesses.

Q: Can you get high off Celebrex? How much Tylonol or other OTC drugs would it take to make you high?
I’m worried about the 2-15 year old children in our house.

A: I’m not sure about that, the getting high part……but I can tell you that tylenol and many other OTC’s reak havoc on the liver.
I’ve got an uncle who was suffering from chronic pain and he has almost killed himself…..his liver taking ibpro. which is almost the samething or is the same…..instead of taking a real
pain killer….it’s just not worth it…..as far as the kids go get it put up and away…….PLEASE
