Our guides and your hosts have a long history of involvement with Bathurst Inlet as a community and with the Lodge. Most are co-owners in the Lodge, very proud of the operation, and incredibly attached to “Nuna” -- their beautiful homeland.
Sam Kapolak
is one of our Chief Guides and boat captains. Sam was raised at Bathurst Inlet; his family has lived in the area for generations. Sam and his family divide their time between Bathurst Inlet, Cambridge Bay, Yellowknife, and camps near Contwoyto Lake.
Allen Kapolak
is one of our Chief Guides and boat captains, and Camp Manager. Allen was raised at Bathurst, but now lives in Cambridge Bay where he is a heavy equipment operator. Allen and his brother Sam can fix anything, run anything, and improvise anything!
Boyd Warner

Glenn and Trish Warner were stationed in Cambridge Bay with the RCMP and Glenn patrolled into the area by dogteam and boat in the 1960s. Born while his parents lived in Cambridge Bay, Boyd was raised in Yellowknife, and spent all his summers at Bathurst Inlet. He is a pilot, and with his family, farms organically on a section of land near Crete, AB. Boyd’s family is fully involved in the Lodge. His wife, Monique, daughters Victoria and Hope, and son Isaac all assist in the operation of the lodge.
Susie Kapolak
our chef, and Sam’s wife, was raised in a small camp on the land at Brown Sound, about 45 miles away, and was trained by Glenn Warner’s mother and aunt, who cooked for the lodge for many years. Susie has been our cook since the early 1990s. She is helped by her daughter(s) and nieces, all of whom were raised at Bathurst Inlet.
Connie Kapolak
who manages all accommodations, is Allen’s wife, and also lives in Cambridge Bay. Former Principal of the high school, Connie is now the Inuinnaqtun Specialist for the schools in Cambridge. Connie and Allen’s two daughters, son, and various nieces and nephews also spend their summers at Bathurst and help with the Lodge, housekeeping and also on the boat.
Page Burt
is our Program Director, and staff naturalist. Page lives in Rankin Inlet, Nunavut, but has worked with Bathurst Inlet Lodge since 1973. She is the author of the colour field guide, Barrenland Beauties, Showy Plants of the Canadian Arctic, and also does environmental baseline and traditional knowledge work for many mining projects. Page and her partner John Hickes own/operate two small hotels in Rankin Inlet, and Page also works for Outcrop Nunavut, a communications company.
Colin Fraser
helps with camp management and helps crew the boat, leading hikes to lofty hills, and along the beautiful cliffs of the Inlet. Also a grandson of the senior Warners, Colin has spent most summers at Bathurst, and is very skilled on the land and with a boat. In the winter, he often works on the ice roads and on various construction projects near Yellowknife.
