Q: Can a 300mg tablet of avapro hct be broken in half and taken as 2 x 150mg tabs.?
Avapro hct is a brand name for Irbesatin (300mg) & Hydrochlorothiazide ( 25mg) ….not sure whether SR but nothing on labeling.
A: If it was a slow release tablet it would be clearly marked.
If you break it in half, it will be half the dose, just as you guessed.
Good luck
Q: when can we get the generic Avapro in the USA?
A: It depends on what Avapro was approved for use by the FDA. Most drug companies have a 10 year patent on the drug. After that patent runs out, then the generic versions are made and sold.
Q: stopped taking my avapro(high blood pressure pills)?
ok so im thinking i may be pregnant so i stopped taking my hbp bc they can be veryy harmful to an unborn baby…should i start taking them again until i know for sure or wait until my drs appt and see what they say…bc if i am preg and i ake them they can do alot of damage and i dont want that too happen obviously…anyone know of anything to help hbp that wouldn’t harm an unborn baby
A: If you’re really pregnant, discontinue your bp meds for now until you can be seen by your ob. The doctor can then give you anti-hypertensive meds that are safe for pregnancy.
Q: My dosage of avapro has been decreased by 1/2. Can I cut my pills in half.?
A: most pills can be cut in half. Use a sharp knife or get a pill cutter at the drug store.
Q: Which is better and why Avapro vs. Benicar??
side effects, results, etc…
A: Both drugs are in the Angiotensin Receptor Blocker family.
I have used both. First the Avapro then Benicar – I switch to Benicar because it was cheaper than the Avapro. I use the ARB drugs because Lisinopril and others in that family cause me to cough a lot.
Q: Is anyone here familiar with the cough a patient on blood pressure meds gets..I had it before on ACE inhibitor
and I have it now.
I’m on avapro. I just came off cymbalta (mood meds) and kinds stopped all my meds untill I flush at the bad meds out.
So I had a sinus thing going on, but the mucus is coming up from my bronchil area.
The feeling in my throat is that of being choked like with the ACE inhibitor.
So does it sound like sinus problems or problems with meds?
I had chest and nasal xrays done this morning. He said I had swelling in my left sinus, but my lungs were clear.
I have coughed worse today than all week. And I skipped work since Saturday.
So what does it sound like???
A: side effect. no problem.
Q: Protein in urine from diabetes?
I have juvenile diabetes and My kidney leaks protein in the urine. I am on avapro and it can heal itself but how long do you think it would take for it to heal? i also need to know what can happen if you get pregnant with that condition?
A: Points to Remember
Proteinuria is a condition in which urine contains an abnormal amount of protein.
The term albuminuria is also often used because some tests measure this protein specifically and it is the major type of protein in the urine.
Proteinuria may be a sign that your kidneys are damaged and that you are at risk for end-stage renal disease.
Several health organizations recommend that people be regularly checked for proteinuria so that kidney disease can be detected and treated before it progresses.
Groups at risk for proteinuria and kidney failure include African Americans, American Indians, Hispanic/Latinos, Pacific Islander Americans, people who have diabetes or hypertension, and people who have a family history of kidney disease.
You may have proteinuria without noticing any signs or symptoms. Testing is the only way to find out how much protein you have in your urine.
If you have diabetes or hypertension, or both, the first goal of treatment will be to control your blood glucose and blood pressure.
Pregnant women are routinely tested for protein in the urine during prenatal visits to the healthcare provider. Protein in the urine during pregnancy can indicate preeclampsia, a serious condition that can cause high blood pressure in the mother
Q: my husband has big bumps they come to a pimple and than they pop and than they look like they dried out?
they itch than they budt and they spred and there just on his right side there not all over they started under his arn pit. hes thinking that it might be one of his meds. he has artiritis so he on a med for that.he has high cholesterol and hes on lipitor.he has a depression problem he is on wellbutrin.he alsohas high blood pressure hes on avapro for that . and now he went to the dentist and he has and affection in his mouth and he is alsotaking amoxicillin for that we were just wondring if any of this med is interacking together we call his dr. and his dr. is not in until monday .and we were fust wondering if we could just ask for a little advice
A: The bumps sound like they are boils and when they spread they are called carbuncles. It’s caused by a staph infection. It happens when the immune system is suppressed. I don’t know what medication he is on for arthritis, but some arthritis medications suppress the immune system and can make a person more prone to infections. I think a doctor may treat the boils with an antibiotic cream and possibly something else, I don’t know for certain. You may want to take him to a clinic that is open today so he can be treated. You can also look up boils and carbuncles on the internet to see what you can find that may help.
Q: Pill prices please help?
I think my mother may be selling my Grandfathers pills and I was just wondering if Lyrica’s, Hydrocodine’s, Avapro’s, Spironolactones, sell for a lot, or like under ten dollars, estimates are also helpful. He needs them not her. I need prove this by the money she keeps happening to “find”.
One or all any will help.
A: any kind of pain killer has street value , the stronger they are the more ppl will pay , had a friend who was a vicodin addict she’d pay $3.00 a piece for hydrocodone so do the math and get gramps a lock box to stash his drugs in luck to you
Q: does diphenhydramine hci 25mg (took 3 pills for dog allergy) interfer w/heart & high bp meds?
I take toprol xl & avapro for high bp and rythmol for heart, can the allergy med spike my heart rate?
I was misunderstood, I only took 3 pills in 24 hrs. I know this is in tylenol pm–what I don’t know is if it can be the reason my heart rate spiked up–and stayed high for 3 hrs. could that be the reason?
A: Dipenhydramine Hydrochloride is a severe nervous system depressant, in addition to having an effect on allergic response. 3 pills ought to be putting you to sleep! It’s actually the side ingredient in many OTC sleep aids. You would be best asking the doctor who prescribed the medicine this kind of question.
Q: Why am I still coughing?? Please Help!!?
I have been through heck over the past two months, I had the stomach flu for a week, then developed Laryngitis immediately after I recovered from the stomach flu. I had Laryngitis for over a week, with a dry, non-productive cough.
My dr. gave me antibiotics for the laryngitis and eventually it cleared up, I am a teacher, so I had no choice but to try to talk while I was sick!
Well, it’s been almost a month since I had laryngitis but I still have a dry, non-productive cough!! My dr. gave me more antibiotics, that didn’t help, I am currently on steroids, that don’t seem to work, and I am freaking out over still having this dang cough! My dr. said the next step would be to send me to a pulmonologist! I hope I don’t have something serious.
I am a smoker, but am trying to quit, and don’t have any classic smoking related phlegm, etc.
I don’t have shortness of breath, my throat is a little scratchy, and if I talk to much I cough, or get hoarse after a while. I take otc cough meds for people with HBP and that seems to help.
I am taking Avapro for high blood pressure and have heard people have Cough Variant Asthma sometimes from those types of meds. Have you heard of Cough Variant Asthma? I do have trouble breathing in very humid or very cold dry weather. Dr. calls it environmental asthma
What should I do? I am scared! I know I should completely stop smoking, but please give me other advice, I will stop, I just need help now with this problem!
I also had a chest x-ray that came back normal about 3 weeks ago.
A: I am no doctor but I think you should get someone else’s medical advice other than the one doctor you seem to be going to. Just to see what they recommend in case your doctor is giving you the wrong prescription or he just hasn’t understood the problem entirely. There may be another history of diseases in your family you are unsure of or maybe your doctor treated you incorrectly the first time and you are suffering the repercussions. Go see another doctor for his advice, he may just have the cure. You’ll never know until you try it out.
Hope you get well soon <3
Q: Does Hypertension affects Air Force Officer registration?
The cardiologist as a preventive measure make me take one Avapro 150mg every night.
All my vitals are in perfect state, after many tests the cardiologist told that I can do whatever I want without problems.
But I fear that this will affect my request to join the Air Force as an Officer.
I just talked with the Officer recruiter.
He told me that Engineers are handle different from the rest of the group that I don’t have to worry about that.
At least I can sleep much better until I meet with him the next week.
A: Wow,that’s a tough one.

So what does it sound like???
A: When you were on the ACE inhibitor before that was the cause of your cough. The mechanism for this is a buildup of chemicals called kinins, which lead to irritation of the airways causing the cough. Just to clarify, there is no such thing as bad meds so they need not be flushed out.
Avapro is an Angiotensin II receptor antagonist. It is also a blood pressure medication that is normally used in patients that have the cough associated with ACE inhibitors. There is a small percentage of people that still experience the cough with this drug class as well.
Since your sinus xray showed some swelling in your sinus another cause of a cough could just be post nasal drip. When your sinuses drain down your throat, it can cause coughing as well.
The take home message is that your cough could be from the avapro or from your sinus issue. I hope this helps.
